How does automatic distribution work on Pocket Casts ?
With Ausha, you can distribute your podcast on all available listening platforms (see our generalist article: How do I distribute my podcast on listening platforms? 👈).
Good news! On certain platforms, broadcast begins automatically without you having to take any action. This is the case for: Google Podcasts, Castbox, Overcast, Castro, and, the star of this article: the Pocket Casts platform. 🥳
👉 Here are the necessary conditions required to allow Pocket Casts and the other aforementioned platforms to automatically broadcast your podcast :
1️⃣ Your podcast must contain at least one Publicly Published episode.See this article for more info: How do I publish an episode?
💡 Note : If your show only contains scheduled or draft episodes, distribution won’t work on any platform, be it Pocket Casts or any other platform. Having at least one published episode is essential for Pocket Casts to automatically detect your podcast!
2️⃣ Your podcast must already be broadcast on the Apple Podcasts platform. See this article for more info: How do I distribute my podcast on iTunes/Apple Podcasts?
💡 Note : Pocket Casts makes a copy of Apple Podcasts’ catalog. As long as your podcast doesn’t appear on Apple Podcasts and/or if you do not wish to distribute your podcast on Apple Podcasts 🍏, Pocket Casts cannot distribute your show automatically.
Once your podcast has fulfilled these two conditions, you will have to wait before automatic distribution on Pocket Casts begins (see part 2 👇).
How long should I expect to wait before my show is available on Pocket Casts ?
As discussed above in part 1, distribution on Pocket Casts is completely automatic.
On the other hand, broadcast on this platform, as with all the platforms that distribute automatically, is not instantaneous. ❌
🕰 You may wait over a month after your first public episode is published on Apple 🍏 before your podcast is indexed by Pocket Casts.
As long as your podcast isn’t available on Pocket Casts, it will be marked as “Pending distribution” under your Ausha distribution settings (Settings tab > Distribution).
If you see this status, that means you will need to wait a few more weeks for your podcast to appear on this platform !
Once your podcast is available on Pocket Casts, your show’s dedicated page link on this platform will be displayed in your Ausha distribution settings, as seen here. 👇
Even after your podcast shows up on Pocket Casts, your Pocket Casts listen link may not appear immediately in your Ausha settings and the “Pending distribution” status could still be displayed.
In this case, please wait a few more days for your Pocket Casts link to be automatically picked up by Ausha! 🙏
My show (hosted on Ausha) wasn’t automatically detected by Pocket Casts. How can I manually force distribution on Pocket Casts ?
👉 Have you successfully fulfilled all the required conditions for your podcast’s automatic distribution on Pocket Casts? (See part 1 above).
👉 Have you waited for the normal delay to pass (at least one month) ?
(See part 2 above).
Pocket Casts’ automation detection may take longer than the standard delays they indicate. In this case, you can go ahead and manually submit your podcast on Pocket Casts to trigger its broadcast. Nevertheless, we recommend that you wait for automatic distribution to trigger instead. 🙏
To manually submit your podcast on Pocket Casts :
Enter your podcast’s RSS feed link in "Enter your podcast feed URL" field.
💡 The find the RSS feed link for your podcast (hosted on Ausha), check out this article.
Activate the option: "Public - The podcast may appear in podcast searches and human/machine curated lists."
Finally, hit the Submit button to confirm.
Wait at least 24 hours and up to 2-3 days for your podcast to appear on the Pocket Casts platform !
If you run into any issues when manually submitting your podcast, please reach out to the Pocket Casts team here !
After your podcast is published on Pocket Casts, you will have to wait a few more days for your listen link to show up in your Ausha distribution settings. Therefore, the “Pending distribution” status may still be displayed on Ausha even after your podcast has appeared on Pocket Casts. Don’t worry – the link will be picked up automatically in a few days. ⏳
