🚀 Mission Brief 🚀

  • How do I create, modify or delete a chapter?

  • How do I add a visual asset and/or link to a chapter?

When you create or modify an episode, you will be able to create chapters. 🥳 What’s the purpose of chapters? They let you break up your episodes into sections to guide your listeners throughout the episode (to learn more, check out our blog post on this subject). Convinced? Follow along to set up your chapters! 🚀 🚀

How do I create, modify or delete a chapter?

Create a chapter

  1. Create or modify an episode (see the Create an episode article).

  2. In the episode editor form, head to the tab marked Chapters.

3. In the Chapters tab, you’ll see two horizontal bars. The first bar (on top) represents your entire episode. The second bar (on the bottom) represents the selected section (the grayed out part in the top bar).

  • Click on the second bar at the spot where you’d like to add a new chapter. A chapter-adding cursor will appear.

Tip: To double-check that your chapter is at just the right moment in the episode, you can listen to your episode by clicking the violet play ▶️ button to the right of the second bar.

  • Click on the + button to add a chapter – that’s it, a new chapter (still untitled) is added to your episode!

4. Set your newly added chapter’s title in the Chapter Title field (chapters are named “Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc.” by default).

Your chapter’s name is instantly updated when you fill in this field. Note: chapter titles don’t support emojis.

That’s it, your first chapter has been created! 🎉
Repeat these steps to add other chapters to your episode.

Modify a chapter

To modify an existing chapter:

  • In the general menu, head to the Episodes tab and open the episode for which you’d like to modify the chapters by clicking on the pencil icon ✏️ (on the right).

  • Within the episode editor form, in the Chapters tab, you’ll find the chapter-setting bar. To adjust the start of a chapter, click on the chapter marker that you want to modify and slide it left or right in function of your desired starting point.

  • Complete all your desired modifications and save. Your episode’s chapters have now been updated! 🎉

Delete a chapter

  • In the general menu, head to the Episodes tab and open the episode in which you’d like to delete chapters by clicking on the pencil icon ✏️ (on the right).

  • Within the episode editor form, in the Chapters tab you’ll find the chapter-setting bar. To delete a chapter, select the chapter to be deleted and click on the trash can icon 🗑 on the right.

  • Once you’ve finished making changes, Save.

How do I associate a link or a visual with a chapter?

Associate a link with a chapter

By using chapters, you can have links appear at specific moments in your episodes. To do so, here are the steps:

  • Select the chapter you’d like to associate with a link and click on the Chapter link field.

  • Fill in the link you’d like to associate with the chapter (in the http://www.website-name.com format). Once the link is completely filled in, it’s immediately associated with the selected chapter!

  • Publish your episode. The link will appear at the start of the associated chapter!

Associate an image with a chapter

There are many reasons you might want to associate an image with one or more of your chapters (ex: to provide an immersive experience for your listeners, to clearly indicate the start of each chapter, to illustrate what you mean, etc.). 📸

To do so, here are the steps:

  • Select the chapter for which you’d like to add an image and head to Chapter Image.

  • Click on the pencil icon.

  • Upload an image. It will be applied immediately.

  • Publish your episode. The image will appear at the start of the associated chapter!

Now you know how to manage (create, move, and delete) and enrich (by adding an image and a link) your chapters! 🎉
