How do I create my advertising campaign on Spotify and YouTube directly from Ausha?
Setting up a campaign takes 4 steps: Objective, Content, Targeting and Budget.
π― Step 1 β Objective: choose your platform and your goal
First, choose where your ad will run:
Video: your ad plays automatically before a YouTube video (pre-roll). When someone clicks on a video, your ad appears first, before the content begins.
Podcast: your ad is shown during the ad breaks that Spotify Free users hear between tracks or episodes.
π The preview panel on the right updates in real time so you can see exactly what your ad will look like.
Then, think about what you want this campaign to achieve:
πΊ For a YouTube campaign, there are four goals to choose from. If this is your first campaign, ask yourself what matters most right now:
Maximize visibility and engagement: the right choice if you want to grow your audience and get your show in front of as many people as possible. Your ad runs as a pre-roll and appears in YouTube recommendations.
Boost views: the right choice if you want to attract listeners who are genuinely interested in your content and likely to watch all the way through.
Increase engagement: the right choice if you want to spark more reactions on your video (likes, comments, shares) and build an engaged community around your content.
Grow subscribers: the right choice if your main goal is turning viewers into subscribers, especially if you are working towards YouTube monetization thresholds.
π§ For a Spotify campaign, one goal is available:
Increase engagement through Spotify Free ad placements: your show or a specific episode is promoted to a new audience through the ad breaks served to users on Spotify's free plan.
βοΈ Step 2 β Content: set up your ad
For a YouTube campaign, you will need two things:
β
π Your YouTube channel
Paste your channel URL or search for it directly in the field provided
π§ The email address of the Google account linked to your YouTube channel
An access request will be automatically sent to this address
Approving it is required before your campaign can go live
β
π‘ Make sure this is the email address of the Google account that has admin rights on the YouTube channel you want to promote.
For a Spotify campaign, you will need two things:
β
π The Spotify URL of your show or the episode you want to promote
Your ad will automatically pull the artwork from your show if you are promoting the full show, or from the episode if you are promoting a specific episode
βοΈ A short description
Write a punchy line that will appear alongside your ad and give people a reason to click
π‘ Only content that is already live on Spotify is eligible for promotion.
π Step 3 β Targeting: define your audience
Targeting tells the algorithm who to show your ad to. The closer your targeting is to the profile of your ideal listener, the more value you get from your budget.
You can narrow down your audience using the following criteria:
β
For a Spotify campaign:
π Countries
π Age range
π€ Gender
π΅ Musical interests
For a YouTube campaign:
π Countries
π Age range
π€ Gender
πΊ Similar YouTube channels
π‘ Interests
π·οΈ Topics
β
π― Combining multiple criteria that reflect your content's theme gives you the best chance of reaching people who will genuinely connect with your show.
πΆ Step 4 β Budget: set your investment and wrap up
Set your budget
Your budget is the total amount you put into your campaign. It is spent gradually over the course of the campaign.
β
ποΈ The minimum amount is $100.
β
Pick from the available options:
$200
$400
$600
$800
$1,000
Or enter a custom amount
π‘ A higher budget means your ad runs longer and reaches more people. The first hours of your campaign are when the algorithm figures out which listeners respond best to your content. The more room you give it, the better your results will be over time.
Wrap up your order
Read the Base for Creators Terms and Conditions, check the box to confirm, then click Next to submit your campaign. π
Once your order is confirmed, your campaign is handed over to the Base for Creators team, who handle moderation and launch. You will hear from them at each key stage (see Part 3 of this article). π
